Dalam upaya untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan di daerah, Pemerintah Provinsi NTB melalui Dinas Dikbud NTB akan membentuk Badan Layanan Umum Daerah (BLUD) untuk Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) yang ada di Provinsi NTB.
Sebelumnya Kepala Bidang SMK Dikbud NTB M. Khairul Ikhwan menyampaikan pihaknya akan menargetkan 23 SMK untuk menjadi BLUD.
“Tahun ini ada 23 SMK yang kami ajukan menjadi BLUD, pada tahun 2021 terdapat 11 SMK di NTB yang sudah lebih dulu ditetapkan menjadi BLUD,” terangnya.
SMKN 1 Sumbawa Besar salah satu sekolah yang telah berproses untuk BLUD. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan turunnya tim verifikasi BLUD dari Pemprov NTB.
Kepala SMKN 1 Sumbawa Besar Jayadi, ketika dikonfirmasi media, Rabu, (13/9/2023), mengatakan kesiapan sekolah untuk menjadi BLUD sudah 100 persen, dan melalui proses sesuai prosedur yang ditetapkan.
BLUD merupakan salah satu dari 11 program SMK Gemilang Karya dan SMK Negeri 1 Sumbawa Besar tidak lama lagi akan memegang status SMK BLUD.
Bapak Jayadi menjelaskan, BLUD ini adalah sebuah kemandirian dari SMK untuk mengelola keuangan dengan fleksibilitas yang tinggi.
“Dengan menjadi BLUD, SMK Negeri 1 Sumbawa Besar akan meningkatkan peran serta peserta didik untuk menghasilkan TeFa (Teaching Factory) yang lebih baik,” ujarnya.
Dengan hasil TeFa yang baik maka akan melahirkan siswa yang memiliki karakter wirausaha, pengelolaan keuangan akan lebih akuntabel, dan akan membuka lebih banyak peluang usaha lainnya yang melibatkan hasil produk siswa yang bervariatif. Dengan hadirnya BLUD juga dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan seluruh warga sekolah.
Saat dilakukan Visitasi dan Verifikasi Sekolah Calon BLUD di SMK Negeri 1 Sumbawa Besar, tim pemeriksa berkeliling sekolah melihat langsung aktifitas peserta didik di masing-masing jurusan. Dengan mengawali kunjungan ke Jurusan Kuliner, dilanjutkan ke Jurusan Busana dan Jurusan Kecantikan.
